Select Sale!

This blog is never going to be just fashion or makeup blog (thank god because I was fairly clueless on the subjects up until recently) but I have recently bought some things that require attention!

Select has always been a gorgeous clothes shop. Great quality, beautiful colours, and not at all expensive.

I first came across the shop on a weekend at my aunts in Wales. We took a walk into town and whilst my cousins and brothers spent their time in the park, I obviously looked into the shop windows. This was the day I bought my Parka coat which is still quite obviously a fashion essential in a lot of peoples (girls, boys, and women. As of yet I haven't seen a man in one of the furry coats) wardrobes.

Select has the most amazing array of blue's, grey's, and black's which are totally the colours I go for (not that I am an emo/goth). So recently when Facebook publicised the massive sale on, I just had to have a peak.

This is a gorgeous thigh length dress with scalloped edges and it is such a nice material (and stretchy). The shoes are AMAZING! (I need to find new adjectives) they have given me blisters but they're worth it right? It was the pastel blue colour that attracted me to them, but they also come in white, pink, and red.

These were just a quick 'it's ten 'o'clock at night and they're only £5's' thing, but I am sooooooo glad that I did because they are so comfortable, weather efficient and I would definitely not be afraid to wear them into town.

Boots being modelled by moi. Flower garland and scarf from Primark. Jeans from Berksha. Leather Jacket a one off from Lidl (look for sales anywhere!).

If you haven't yet looked at the select sale or even heard of it for that matter, I strongly recommend that you take a peak before all of the great merchandise is gone. http://www.selectfashion.co.uk/sale/

Anyone else been on a bit of a shopping spree lately? I'd love to hear all about your purchases (and where you got them). Love and money well spent Sophie xoxo

Hiya Hunnays!

If you hadn't gathered by my rather informal title, I have just spent my weekend in a little place people call Essex.

My godmother lives there you see, and we hardly ever get to see her (like ever! twice in a year is our record, and that was because she got married the other was the fitting). She has just moved house and I was definitely not expecting what I came across when we crossed her private bridge to her mansion-like-home.

So first, we got the grand tour. Everything from bathrooms, to bedrooms, to fish. Then the last bedroom we came across...

And beyond the door:

It's the cupboard that every girl dreams of (well most) and I was sleeping just a centimetre of wood away, I'm not surprised there was nothing but sweet dreams all night.

And for you people like me, there was also a little something else.

A library. I was feeling very Belle off 'Beauty and the Beast' or Liesel off 'The Book Thief' as I ran my fingers over the backs of all the books. I even managed to come away with five of the books displayed, and a pair of the most gorgeous boots in history.

Love and lots (and lots) of books and boots, Sophie xoxo

(Red) Velvet Cupcakes...

My baking day has been a success and now that I have strictly wiped down the benches, I can sit down and write to you.
I used BBC's GoodFood recipe for the recipe for the Red Velvet Cupcakes. The only websites I could find were in measurements of cups and so I had to roughly estimate. I can finally advise now: DO NOT put in as much cocoa powder! Because now although they taste like chocolaty heaven, they do not at all resemble the colour a red velvet cake should be, despite using 28g of red food colouring (the whole bottle).

Lovers or Loathers

Saturday 14th February 2015, 11.05 am.

This morning has been just like any other, waking up at 6:30 and realising that there is no school today before blissfully returning to sleep. No depression and absolutely no love.

Usually, my friends and I meet up for a sleepover and watch movies all night. However, this year the circumstances are different, as all of my friends are on a school trip skiing. So today I'm alone and looking to fill my time wisely.

I should get a head start on my homework, but who in their right mind would pick homework over baking red velvet cupcakes?... Not me, for sure!

So get doing something productive unless, unlike me, you have a significant other with whom you can spend all of your time.

Love and valentines kisses, Sophie xoxo

January Blues... yay or nay?

It's been a very busy January! (into February). Just listing a few:
  • Work. I am a high school student but my Sunday job is at a stables which homes (give or take) sixteen horses. It is extremely cold in the mornings when I have to fill up water buckets and it has began to give me very sore hands!
  • Handing in 15% of my music GCSE...
  • Prepping for 15% of my German GCSE, which I will be sitting tomorrow.
  • And realising that my Science GCSE's are in ten weeks time! It was so kindly pointed out to me by my teacher that if I fail these, I will fail in life- even though I hate science and want nothing to do with it when I am older. Where is the logic?
On top of all that I've been spending Saturdays in town and nights at parties, and baby sitting.

Trying on clothes in H&M. Loved that jacket so much! It was really different and had a lot of paisley print, but it was £40... my friends had to drag me away, thanks guys.
My first costa! Wow that day was filled with firsts! My first time going into town with the girls that didn't involve the cinema, first costa, first time into lush which led to my first bath bomb, and buying my first blusher.

Last Saturday, which was the 31st I think, I attended my very first party. That sounds really bad! I have been to parties- I'm not that unpopular. When you get to high school it soon becomes very clear who the popular kids are- because it turns out that no one likes them- and that is where the parties occur. In my circle of friends we have a sleepover or go out to the cinema to celebrate another year passing, but not this time!
A new girl- who seems really nice! but I don't know her that well- invited me to her party/disco/buffet/dance. When I first arrived there were clusters of people just milling around. My eyes immediately found the cute tumblr-like glasses filled with chocolate, strawberry and banana milkshakes (throughout the night I had many).

My friend and I danced the whole night to the likes of Meghan Trainor, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Footloose and Greece (by my recommendation of course!). I was so tired and then I realised that in the morning I had to get up and scoop through horse poo! It wasn't a great feeling...

How have your Januarys been? Busy or dreary? Did you let those mean ol' blues get to you?

Much love and chocolate milkshake, Sophie xoxo
